BBC SCHOOL REPORT

Welcome to our 2011 BBC website

This site is under reconstruction, please come back again soon.

This is an extrta curricular project from the Technology and Social Subjects Departments. In 2009 we had our first go at BBC School Report. That year we worked over lunchtimes and pulled the whole thing together by about 2.00 pm. We had uploaded the film to You Tube, but it took too long for the film to appear. In 2010 we were working during part of the S2 Curriculum for Excellence project. This year we plan to put our film up on the Films for Learning site again. We hope you enjoy it when it appears

We have our own YouTube channel! On this site we have various films created over the last few years, ranging from National Park videos, to Food on Film Festival Films and even one or two simply daft movies.

A group of S2 Pupils from Kingussie High School turned reporters for the day (Thursday) when they filmed a series of news packages as part of the annual BBC School Report project.
The BBC project is an activity for high schools all across Britain, with over 300 schools taking part this year. The Kingussie Report consisted of local and international news, sport and entertainment. As a part of their project the children went up to Inverness to turn the tables by interviewing Brian Taylor who is a political editor for the BBC.
The ten-strong team only had four hours to film everything on the day and construct it all for the website. Before doing so all the pupils had to research something on their category. The international news focussed on Libya while the local package featured Mercedes, the polar bear and star attraction at the Highland Wildlife Park. They also had a section on sport about the athletics championships for S2 which took place in Inverness while in Entertainment the spotlight turned on teenage singing sensation Maisy who is one of the contestants on the annual “K Factor” which also takes place in the school.
A seven minute news bulletin featuring all four items was posted on the school website and also linked to the BBC school report site.

On the 24th of March we intend to publish a BBC school report at 2pm.

It'll go on to filmsforlearning.org and appear as a link on the BBC website. We need to know NOW if you have any interesting stories for around that time that might appeal to us. To the left of this web page is a rough outline of our report stories.

The News Team
This consists of 10 pupils, 8 from S2 and 2 acting as mentors from S3. These two pupils did the work last year, so they have an idea of the issues.

Below you can see photos from our visit to BBC Highland in 2011.
